Welcome, I’m Dana

Each of us has a story. Mine is woven into my poetry collection, FIVE A.M. THE SILENCE AFTER GOODBYE, a book I never imagined writing. It began in the wake of losing my beloved brother, Arman, in 2019. His tragic passing reshaped the way I see loss, mental health, and the unspoken battles so many face.

I am dedicated to breaking the silence around depression and mental health  —an experience that touches countless lives yet often remains misunderstood. I also stand alongside immigrants navigating not only the legal system but the trauma of domestic violence and the uncertainty of rebuilding a life in a new country.

Through storytelling, advocacy, and open conversations, we can create a world where no one carries their burdens alone. Healing is possible, and even in the darkest moments, light remains.

Wherever you are on your journey, you are seen, you are heard, and you are never alone.

FIVE A.M. THE SILENCE AFTER GOODBYE tells my story of surviving the tragic loss of my beloved little brother Arman, to suicide.

My poems speak of grief, hope, love, and recovery. They take you along on a sad journey but prove the healing power of poetry.

It also contains poems and songs written by Arman, photographs, personal notes and messages.

The phone rang late in the day, its shrill sound breaking the quiet of the house. Dad answered with a nervous glance, then smiled, a little relieved. “It’s a nurse from the hospital,” he said, his voice soft with excitement. “The airplane has landed and brought us a baby boy. Your little brother!” I could hardly contain my excitement. I had been waiting for this moment...
